UUUPS !... USA FALLS 1x2

The U . S . Men ’ s National Team opened the September international window on a Saturday afternoon with 1 x 2 defeat to Canada at Children ’ s Mercy Park in Kansas City , KS .
It was a second only setback that the U . S . has fallen to Canada on home soil ( the first came in 1957 ), although the Americans still have a 17-11-13 advantage in the all-time series .
The U . S . is 17W-11L-12D against Canada all-time , and also outscoring them 62-40 . This game marked the USMNT ’ s first meeting with Canada outside an official competition since 2016 , a 1x0 win on Feb . 5 in Carson , CA .
They met for the 41st time since starting the series almost a century ago in 1925 .

THE GAME – A COPA AMERICA SPELL

Copa America scent still fresh on both teams . On USMNT an acid smell by being ousted from Copa America in the Group Phase . Canada , in other side of the coin , with pleasant smell by reaching the Semifinals in the top level Copa America of World Cup champions : five times Brazil , three times Argentina , 2 times Uruguay .
The Canadians started well , playing with vigor , intensity , intelligent speed , teamwork , chemistry between the players backing each other in every single play , keeping the ball rolling fast , no lazy game here .
They ’ re playing much like the USMNT from the beginning , many years ago . Now USMNT is too sophisticated and modernly languid or lazy is better word , taking too much time to release the ball , setting only for occasional sprints . It ’ s tough to find a hint of their usual game style .
The Americans were outshot 11-1 by the Canadians in the opening half .
If was not for Schulte denying at least 3 clear goal opportunities the scoreboard would be working hard . Schulte frustrated Canada forcing the first half to end in only 1x0 .
